Motor Control Electronics — Open Application
Halifax,
United Kingdom
**We want to hear from you. Even if we don't have an open role right now.**
---
Most job ads describe a gap. This one describes a passion. If motor control electronics is your thing — the kind of thing you think about in the shower, read papers on for fun, or lose hours to on a scope — read on.
At ZikoDrive, we work on low-power BLDC, PMSM, and IPM motor control. Compact, efficient, precise drive electronics for applications where every watt, every gram, and every millisecond matters. It's technically demanding work and we love it.
We don't always have a standard open position, but we always want to know who the talented people in this industry are. So we're putting this out there: if you're looking for an opportunity and think what we do could be a fit for where you want to go, please get in touch today.

## Who we're interested in
We're deliberately not writing a narrow job spec here. We care more about what drives you than what your CV looks like. That said, here's the kind of person we'd love to hear from:
**The passionate graduate or student** — you've been building motor drives in your bedroom, you wrote your thesis on field-oriented control, or you've spent more time tuning a PI loop than you'd like to admit. You might not have years of industry experience, but you have depth, curiosity, and an instinct for the hardware.
**The experienced engineer** — you've shipped motor drive hardware, you know the pain of thermal runaway at 3am before a demo, and you have strong opinions about gate driver design, dead-time compensation, or sensorless estimation. You want to work somewhere your expertise genuinely matters.
In either case, you probably care about some combination of:
- Field-oriented control (FOC) and space vector modulation (SVM)
- Sensorless or sensor-based rotor position estimation
- Low-voltage and/or battery-powered drive topologies
- Gate driver design and switching loss optimisation
- PCB layout for high-di/dt environments
- Motor parameter identification and commissioning
- Embedded firmware for real-time control loops (C, often bare-metal or RTOS)
- Thermal design and efficiency optimisation
You don't need to tick every box. If you have deep knowledge in one or two of these areas and a genuine curiosity about the rest, that's interesting to us.

## What we can offer
An environment where motor control is taken seriously. Where the engineering decisions are made by people who understand the trade-offs — not handed down by a committee. Where you can own a problem from first principles to final product.
We can't promise a specific role, title, or start date from an open application. What we can promise is that we'll read what you send us, have a real conversation with the right people if there's a fit, and keep you in mind as we grow.
---
## How to apply
Tell us:
- What you're working on or have worked on (a project, a thesis, a product — whatever's most relevant)
- What aspect of motor control you find most interesting or challenging right now
- What you're looking for in your next opportunity
A CV is helpful but not required at this stage. We'd rather read something that tells us how you think.
