ZikoOptimise - fast setup, high speed brushless DC control

ZikoOptimise is our patent pending technology that enables sensorless brushless DC motors to be run without user input or the need for a motor datasheet. The controller continually optimises the motor drive to factor changes in fast changing loads, resistance or other aspects.

ZikoOptimise is designed to;

  • Enable fast start of sensorless brushless DC motors in a range of applications.
  • Enable a continuously smooth / low noise drive of these motors.
  • Continuously optimise the motor drive to enable the most efficient drive possible.
  • Rapidly respond to changes in motor load to enable the motor to continue running well, without interruption or risk of stalling.

Which motors does it work well with?

ZikoOptimise is specifically designed to work with sensorless brushless DC motor controllers. The technology is based on an autostart function that enables motors to be started quickly and easily with a minimum of setup time. The controller then takes continuous measurements from the motor, adjusting the drive parameters in Real Time, to enable the most efficient drive possible.

What applications is it most suited to?

The technology is particularly well suited to applications where sensorless brushless DC motors are the preferred option – typical examples include pumps, high speed motors or a range of similar applications where sensorless motors can improve life and product assembly efficiency. In these applications there are often issues with changes in load or application changes such as temperature changes that can have an impact on controller and motor efficiency.

Why is it useful?

Competitors product’s, especially those which us technology such as FOC or similar modules work incredibly well when they’re setup correctly. However, they can often take considerable time to setup correctly and will not respond well to changes in motor or other application specific characteristics.

Depending on the nature of your application, FOC may well be the right option for you. However, if you’re looking for something that you can get up and running as quickly as possible and which will continue to operate well, then ZikoOptimise enabled motor controllers may be a good option.

Which controller is it available on?

We are currently rolling out the first generation of sensorless brushless DC motor controllers which will include this technology. These will be the MUL range of brushless DC controllers. These will be available initially in a 24V / 15A configuration, as well as a 48V / 30A configuration.

Is it available as a custom option?

Yes, the technology is available on custom designed motor controllers. Depending on the nature of your project it may be the best possible option. However, we will advise on this at the point of your enquiry.
